· 설비 내 또는 설비 간에 부착 또는 삽입이 가능한 소형화된 크기와 형상이며, 기존 운용 중인 설비에서도 종단 제어신호장치들에 기존 신호선을 mapping된 I/O 포트 연결을 통해 또는 분전반을 대체할 수 있게 설치가 간단히 가능해야 한다.

· 입출력 포트의 단자 구성은 현장 작업자가 쉽게 인지할 수 있도록 물리적으로 양단 일대일 주소로 색인된 포트를 갖도록 하며, 스위치의 I/O Pin포트와 대응하는 CPU 레지스터 주소(Register Address)값을 맵핑 하여 같은 주소로 전달하는 구조를 특징으로 한다.
